The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) aims to enhance the welfare of humanity through the advancement of professional knowledge and by improving the practice of civil engineering. Founded in 1852, ASCE is America 's oldest national engineering society. ASCE represents more than 146,000 members of the civil engineering profession worldwide.
The mission of Portland State University Student Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers is to promote professional development through community outreach, teamwork, social interaction, and professional interaction. The PSU Student Chapter of ASCE offers many activities to enhance the engineering education experience, including guest speakers, field trips, community service projects, career fairs, workshops, and social activities. We also have two competitive teams, the steel bridge team and the concrete canoe team. These teams provide excellent opportunities to apply the engineering concepts learned in the classroom to hands on projects. Our activities are designed to help our students explore and better understand civil engineering, provide networking opportunities with engineering professionals, and to have fun while attending school.
